What TNT offers children aged 6 to 10
TNT Boxing Fitness welcomes students from age 6 in San José del Cabo, Baja California Sur. Its children’s age group is 6 to 10, with further groups for ages 11 to 13 and 14 to 18. Youth Boxing is listed at 17:00, subject to confirmation with the gym. When choosing a boxing class for your child, share their age, experience and what they hope to learn. Coach Arturo, professionally known as Coach LA Valdez, speaks English and Spanish. Local families and visitors to Los Cabos can ask questions in either language. The main gym is in El Rosarito, San José del Cabo, not Cabo San Lucas. Confirm the location and time when booking.
Is 6 a good starting age? What about 9 or 10?
Turning 6 does not mean a child is ready for every exercise. American Academy of Pediatrics guidance says sports readiness also depends on development. For ages 6 to 9, activities should be adapted around basic skills and participation. Starting at 9 or 10 does not require catching up with an imagined deadline: ask for a beginner introduction. A useful first goal for a family might be understanding an instruction, trying a task and wanting to return. Avoid comparing progress with a classmate. Ask how the session is adapted to previous experience, how activities are explained and what happens when a child needs a break. A first visit gives you a chance to discuss those details rather than commit to a long training plan immediately.
Non-contact learning and safety questions
This guide focuses on learning movements and training habits without students hitting one another. Ask about stance, footwork, coordination and supervised equipment practice. These are discussion examples, not a confirmed children’s lesson plan. Pediatric martial arts guidance recommends starting with non-contact skills; contact increases injury risk and protective equipment cannot prevent every concussion. The joint CPS and AAP statement published in 2011 also opposes children’s boxing involving deliberate blows to the head. Learning fundamentals does not mean agreeing to sparring or competition. Confirm the session content, supervision and contact rules before enrolling your child. Ask their pediatrician about health or participation concerns. No sport is entirely risk free, and this article does not provide medical clearance.
Practising discipline without pressure to win
Explain discipline through small actions: packing a bag, listening to an instruction, taking turns and looking after equipment. After class, ask what your child enjoyed and what felt difficult. Recognising a specific attempt is usually more useful than asking them to be the best in the group. Boxing does not guarantee better grades, solve bullying or replace professional support. CDC guidance recommends at least 60 minutes of daily physical activity for ages 6 to 17, suited to their age. That activity can include games, walks and different sports; it does not mean an intense boxing class every day. Keep room for variety and rest. A training routine needs to fit both the child’s interests and the family’s actual schedule.
Preparing for a first visit to TNT
The first group class costs 150 MXN and the first private session costs 400 MXN. Both formats are listed as 60 minutes. There is no free trial class. Ask the team which option suits your child and how participation is adapted during the session. Bring comfortable sportswear, athletic shoes, wraps, a small towel and water. Beginners can borrow gloves while buying their own: ask about availability and size when booking. Personal gloves are then encouraged for hygiene. Also ask whether a parent can observe and what information the gym needs before training; keep your child’s medical details out of public reviews or comments. Check prices and schedules on the Classes page, then use WhatsApp to confirm the group, location and first visit. TNT accepts children from age 6 and does not offer classes below that age.
